Arkhangelsk Schoolchildren Hospitalized with Intestinal Infection; Health Ministry Comments

Seven children have been hospitalized at the Arkhangelsk Regional Children«s Hospital with suspected acute intestinal infection. All are from the same sports team.

«Currently, they are undergoing examinations and receiving all necessary medical care. Work to establish the causes of the illness is being carried out jointly with the local office of Rospotrebnadzor (the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing),» the regional Ministry of Health told 29.RU.

It is known that three children have a moderate intestinal infection, while four have a mild one. They are between 14 and 16 years old.

Online reports say that the children were taken by ambulance from the Belomorskaya Hotel.

«The hockey team came to play, but it didn»t work out,« city public pages report.

Hotel representatives could not immediately comment on the situation. The editorial office will send an official request there.

The Prosecutor«s Office of Arkhangelsk Oblast and the Nenets Autonomous Okrug (NAO) has already organized an inspection.

Update: The Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case on the poisoning of minors.

«Currently, investigative actions are being carried out aimed at establishing all the circumstances of the crime. Together with Rospotrebnadzor employees, the scene has been inspected. Necessary samples have been seized, documents requested, and examinations appointed,» the agency reported.
