Arkhangelsk fisherman drowns in lake

In the Plesetsk district (Arkhangelsk region), the body of a 42-year-old man from Arkhangelsk was found; he had gone fishing on Bolshoye Solozero lake and gone missing.

According to the Agency of the State Fire Service and Civil Defense of the Arkhangelsk Region (Agentstvo GPS i GZ Arkhangelskoy oblasti), the deceased was a man born in 1983. The Investigative Committee (SK) reports that he was a resident of Arkhangelsk. The incident occurred on 16 July.
«The group was vacationing on Bolshoye Solozero lake. In the evening, the man got into a boat to go for a ride and did not return. He was intoxicated. By morning, the boat was washed ashore — the motor was running, but the man was not inside,» the agency said.
The deceased«s friends reported the fisherman missing to rescue services. A team of divers from the Central Rescue Station was dispatched to the lake. The body was found on 18 July.
The Investigative Committee launched a pre-investigation check. According to the SK, the deceased was not wearing a life jacket.
«The investigation is establishing the circumstances of the incident and the cause of death of the man who was without a life jacket. A procedural decision will be made based on the results of the check. To avoid accidents, it is necessary to fish only while sober, not straying far from the shore, and not neglecting a life jacket. Before going fishing, one should inform relatives and friends of the fishing location and also specify the time of return,» the SK advises.
At the end of June, a teenager drowned in Arkhangelsk. The group was swimming in a quarry near the brick factory in Tsiglomeni, the young man dived and did not resurface.
Rescuers recommend swimming only in specially equipped areas. We reported where such spots were opened in the Arkhangelsk region. Earlier, Rospotrebnadzor inspected beaches and water bodies near Arkhangelsk, taking water and sand samples there.
