'Apparently, it's hype': Nizhny Novgorod mayor scolds teens crippling subway
A video clip shows a teenager train surfing on the Nizhny Novgorod metro.
Mayor of Nizhny Novgorod Yuri Shalabaev has scolded teenagers who stage dangerous stunts in the metro. The youths damage property at stations and put themselves and other passengers at risk. The city head shared his reflections on a Telegram channel.
Shalabaev shared a video in which one of the teenagers climbed onto a train car while it was stopped. The schoolboy miraculously avoided injury. However, due to the incident, the train could not depart at its scheduled time.
According to the mayor, the teenagers organize other equally dangerous «entertainments.» In particular, on one day, schoolchildren arbitrarily turned off the escalators.
«Especially during peak hours of the underground»s operation. Apparently, it«s trendier and funnier that way. The most dangerous thing is that with a sudden stop of the steps, people can lose their balance and simply start falling on each other, exponentially increasing the number of victims of such a »joke«,» Shalabaev fumed.
Moreover, young people periodically draw on walls in the underground, break glass, and damage property.
«This is a signal for all of us to think and once again pay attention to our children: where they are, what they are doing, whether they want to talk about something. We will discuss with the education department how to involve schools in this issue. Auxiliary work should be conducted in the family,» Shalabaev concluded.
