Alert system to monitor pipeline leaks in Zabaykalsky

An alert system is planned to be installed on the pipeline in the village of Dauria, Zabaykalsky District, where residents were left without water for several days due to its freezing. This was reported by the company Chitaenergosbyt to Chita.Ru on February 3.

On the morning of January 19, a leak was discovered on the water pipeline in Dauria village, and water supply was suspended during repair work. About 13 apartment buildings were left without water. According to Chitaenergosbyt, there were no disruptions in heating supply. The pipeline was put back into operation on January 23, and homes were reconnected to water supply in stages.

«Chitaenergosbyt will fully restore the thermal insulation of the pipeline, design and install an alert system that will notify of a decrease in water flow, and address the issue of an autonomous water supply source directly at the boiler house,» the company said.

They also quoted the words of General Director Alexey Golikov, who apologized to the residents of the village«s well-maintained homes: »During the emergency, we managed to provide the village with heating, hot water, and organize the delivery of cold water for consumers. Now, when the consequences have been eliminated, we are immediately proceeding to rectify the identified defects and shortcomings. We apologize to consumers for the inconvenience caused and want to assure that we are constantly working to improve the heating, water supply, and drainage systems.«

According to the company, the pipeline freezing occurred due to low temperatures, which the village had not experienced for a long time.

«For this reason, in the main water pipeline that supplies the central boiler house and residential buildings, the water flow rate decreased and freezing occurred. To restore the full capacity of the pipeline, the company sent four repair teams consisting of 17 people, as well as five units of equipment. Specialists worked around the clock on repair and restoration work at the site. The task was completed — 200 meters of pipeline were replaced, 500 meters were covered with thermal insulation,» Chitaenergosbyt said.

Currently, the resource supply organization is conducting an analysis of the situation to prevent similar problems.
