Administrator detained in sauna fire killing five teenagers in Kuzbass

In Kuzbass, a 36-year-old administrator of a private sauna has been detained where a fire occurred the previous evening, claiming the lives of five students and schoolchildren who were resting in the establishment. On Sunday, February 1, the regional Investigative Committee published a video and details of the detention on social media.

According to the agency, the 36-year-old woman, who is the administrator of the establishment, was detained on suspicion of committing a crime related to providing services that do not meet safety requirements, resulting in the death of two or more persons through negligence.

The investigation also conducted an inspection of the building, seized camera recordings and documents. In the near future, the issue of pressing charges and choosing a preventive measure in the form of detention will be decided. So far, it has not been possible to ascertain the whereabouts of the sauna«s owners.

On January 31, a sauna on Kubanskaya Street in Prokopyevsk caught fire. After extinguishing the fire, five bodies of teenagers aged 15 to 17 were found inside. Initial investigative actions established that the establishment might have been operating with violations of fire safety regulations.
