Accident on Peterhof Highway Paralyzes Tram Traffic

A serious road accident occurred on Peterhof Highway on the evening of Wednesday, January 24.

Severely damaged vehicles and stationary trams are visible at the scene of the accident.

According to information from the public group «Accidents and Emergencies | St. Petersburg» on the social network VKontakte, an overturned BMW X5 and debris from a knocked-down pole were on the tracks, blocking the way.

Witnesses also name a KIA car as the second likely participant in the collision.

Published footage shows a severely damaged passenger car and several stationary tram trains.

Information about possible casualties at the accident site is being clarified.

Tram traffic was paralyzed for about an hour.

Around 8:00 PM, the transport organizer in St. Petersburg announced a temporary change to route No. 36 «due to the impossibility of passage on Peterhof Highway near the road to LEMZ».

Tram movement was fully restored by 9:09 PM.
