40-year-old man abducts 14-year-old girl for marriage

The prosecutor’s office in Sukhum has launched an investigation into the abduction of a minor girl, according to the press service of the General Prosecutor’s Office of Abkhazia.

The crime was reported by citizen Enver Uzun-Yakub ogly. He stated that on February 2, his 14-year-old daughter left school in the village of Dzhgyarda, Ochamchire district. Near the school, a 40-year-old man, Mizan Dzhupua, was waiting for her. He placed the girl in his car and drove to his home in Sukhum, informing her relatives of his intention to marry her.

Law enforcement officers retrieved the girl from the “groom’s” house, interrogated her, and handed her over to her parents. The prosecutor’s office will make a procedural decision after the investigation.
