11-year-old schoolgirl found dead after fall from balcony

On the morning of January 27, a tragedy occurred on Semikhatov Street in the Akademichesky district of Yekaterinburg: an 11-year-old schoolgirl named Ksenia (name changed) fell from a shared balcony of an apartment building and died at the scene.

According to acquaintances, the girl lived in an apartment with her mother. «The girl»s mother is a psychologist and writer. It«s a quiet family that seemed well-off. The parents divorced three years ago,» family friends said.

Classmates noted that Ksenia did not have a wide social circle at school. «No one really bullied her. She only befriended a couple of girls. But boys a couple of years older than us called her a nonconformist. Just yesterday she was at classes. A friend said she recently had a fight with her mom,» one of the students shared.

Another acquaintance claimed the schoolgirl had psychological problems: «She had been depressed for a long time, for about a year, often complained about life and talked about such thoughts.»

Ksenia participated in school olympiads. «Some did call her an »anime fan,«» but no one showed any aggression,« a classmate added.

According to preliminary information, law enforcement officials are considering a suicide theory. The girl«s mother learned about what happened from police officers who arrived following a call from eyewitnesses. The woman thought her daughter was at school. A note and the deceased»s phone were found on the transitional loggia.
