10-year-old girl hit at crosswalk in Yekaterinburg

Yesterday around 5:30 p.m., a child was hit on a crosswalk at 45 Inzhenernaya Street. Ten-year-old Dasha is now in intensive care in serious condition, her mother Natalya told E1.RU.

Dasha has broken legs and bruises to her lung and head. The girl is a synchronized swimmer, her coach told us.

According to Dasha«s mother, the driver has tried to get in touch to ask about the girl»s condition. However, Natalya was advised not to communicate with him while the investigation is ongoing.

Natalya asked E1.RU to mention the concerned passers-by who called an ambulance and covered Dasha with a jacket and a blanket.

«They spared nothing, they covered her, brought blankets, and stood by until the ambulance took us away. I»m very grateful to them!« the girl»s mother said.

The schoolgirl«s relatives are now trying to find witnesses to understand exactly how the accident happened.

Update. Preliminary reports indicate a 21-year-old driver of a Datsun on-DO failed to yield to 10-year-old Dasha at the crosswalk. The young man has less than a year of driving experience and during that time has received two fines. He was sober at the time of the accident, according to the State Traffic Inspectorate (GAI).

The driver said he did not notice the girl, which led to the collision.
