Woman's jaw broken during tooth extraction in Omsk Region clinic

The patient required specialized treatment at a major hospital in Omsk, Russia.
A resident of the Isilkul district suffered a jaw fracture during a visit to the dental office of the central district hospital. As reported by the press service of the courts of Omsk Region, the Isilkul City Court granted a lawsuit against «Isilkul Central District Hospital» (Isilkul CRB) for compensation for moral damage sustained during dental treatment.
It turned out that the woman«s jaw was broken during the extraction of a tooth. The fracture was so serious the patient required emergency hospitalization at the maxillofacial department of Omsk»s «City Clinical Hospital No. 1 named after Kabanov» (GKB No. 1). There, she underwent a complex operation with the installation of a titanium structure.
«The treatment and subsequent recovery period took a long time and were associated with significant restrictions,» the court«s press service clarified.
When considering the lawsuit, the judge took into account the nature and consequences of the damage to health, as well as the lengthy recovery. As compensation for physical and moral suffering, the resident of Isilkul will receive 250,000 rubles (about $2,800 at current rates) from the hospital.
The Isilkul hospital itself was unable to provide an immediate comment.
«Our working day has already ended, there is no one at work,» reported the head doctor«s office at 4:35 p.m.
It is noted that the court«s decision has not yet entered into legal force.
