On Monday, February 2, a video was posted on the Leningrad Zoo«s Telegram channel showing the unwrapping of unusual gifts for primates. The green treats for the animals were provided by the Botanical Garden.
Various primate species at the zoo receive and interact with green coniferous treats from the Peter the Great Botanical Garden.
Staff of the institution explained: «Their portion of aromatic green treats from the Botanical Garden was received by the olive agouti, a family of squirrel monkeys, black macaques, and common marmosets.»
The pets were brought conifer needles from spruces, pines, and other trees. Many monkeys studied the novelties with interest: sniffing them, rubbing against the needles, and tasting them.
Earlier, in mid-January, the zoo had already filmed a similar video with the bear Khaarchaana. The predator then also received a bundle with a treat.
