Zabaykalsky Krai Sees 15% Rise in Voice Traffic
In Zabaykalsky Krai, the volume of telephone conversations grew noticeably in the first half of 2026. According to MegaFon analysts, voice traffic increased by 15% compared to the same period last year, while mobile internet grew by only 5%.
The most «talkative» month was March, while residents used mobile internet most in January. Interestingly, phone calls are more often made in the middle of the work week — from Tuesday to Thursday, while internet activity peaks on weekends.
The largest share of calls and mobile traffic traditionally falls on Chita — about a third of the region«s total. Next in the ranking of the most active cities in the region are Borzya and Krasnokamensk. At the same time, the most noticeable growth in demand for communication services was recorded in Mogocha and Nerchinsk. More than half of all voice and internet traffic comes from rural areas. The most active remain Aginskoye, Chernyshevsk, Mogoytuy, Smolenka, Zabaykalsk, and Karymskoye.
Residents make 86% of calls within the region. When it comes to interregional communication, residents of Zabaykalsky most often call Buryatia and Irkutsk Oblast. Among foreign destinations, Uzbekistan leads, followed by China and Tajikistan. Calls to Armenia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, South Ossetia, the USA, and Mongolia are also popular.
— The increase in telecom traffic indicates that the quality of the network allows subscribers to comfortably talk on the phone and use digital services. To meet user needs, it is necessary to develop infrastructure. Since the beginning of the year, the technical service has built and modernized more than 30 base stations. For example, new equipment appeared in Aginsky, Karymsky, Zabaykalsky, Kyrinsky, and Khiloksky districts, and a significant part of the modernization involved Chitinsky District and other territories. This allowed not only to increase internet speeds but also to make voice communication more stable, — noted Maria Krylova, director of MegaFon in Zabaykalsky Krai.
