The Yugra State Traffic Inspectorate warned motorists of difficult weather conditions tomorrow, 5 February. A blizzard, strong wind with gusts of 15–18 m/s, and snow drifts are expected.

A snow drift — is an accumulation of snow formed by the wind into a hill or mound, often during a strong blizzard. The wind moves the snow, forming snow «dunes».

According to the district Hydrometeorological Center, the blizzard will rage throughout the day in Surgut, Nizhnevartovsk, Kogalym, Megion, Raduzhny, Langepas, Nefteyugansk, Pyt-Yakh, and Pokachi, as well as in the Nefteyugansky, Surgutsky, and Nizhnevartovsky districts.

Adverse weather will reduce visibility and lead to other difficulties on the roads. Drivers need to be cautious.

Earlier we reported that for elementary school students in grades 1–4 of the first shift in the cities and towns of Yugra today, 4 February, an aktirovka (school cancellation due to extreme cold) was again declared. The air temperature in the region reached -27 degrees Celsius (-17°F) in the morning.

We also reported that the frosts that began February in Yugra will give way to warmer but snowy weather.
