Almost 60% of all credit debt in Tomsk Region falls on the young debtor group (ages 20–27). This was reported by the Chief Bailiff of Tomsk Region, Alena Romanova.
According to her, 10 years ago the percentage of credit payment collection was 10%, and now it is already almost 40%.
Recently, bailiffs made a selection of debtors aged 20 to 27. Debt on credit obligations from the total debt pool for this population group is 59% (for comparison: the percentage for alimony is only 3% of the total debt of this generation).
“We even see dynasties: parents took loans, and then children took loans. I go to stores quite often, and I see that completely young people, without thinking at all, buy expensive phones. Then problems arise,” said Alena Romanova.
In 2025, Tomsk bailiffs recovered 7.4 billion rubles ($82 million at current rates) from debtors — almost 1 billion rubles ($11 million at current rates) more than a year earlier. In the structure of enforcement proceedings, almost 13% is accounted for by fines, 14% by housing and communal services and fuel and energy complex services. The rest is credit.
