Yaroslavl City Hall details snow cleanup plans

The morning city-wide meeting at Yaroslavl City Hall on 27 January was dedicated to organizing the cleanup after the night«s heavy snowfall.

The head of Gorzelenkhoztroy (the municipal landscaping and maintenance service), Andrey Stepanov, reported on the measures being taken: “We are working in an intensified mode. A large amount of precipitation has fallen. About 160 pieces of equipment are currently working. First of all, we are clearing and treating the roads. When the reagent takes effect, we clear it away and treat the road again. We focus on main roads, then roads of the second and third categories. Snow removal is planned for tonight. We will clear the pull-in pockets at bus stops. About 160 manual workers are operating.”

Parallel to clearing the highways, work is being carried out in the following areas:

  • city parks and squares;
  • courtyard areas;
  • intra-block passages.

Responsibility for cleaning courtyards and passages has been assigned to management companies and district administrations.

The mayor of Yaroslavl set the task of organizing work to completely clear the snow drifts within a week.

The head of the city also commented on the weather conditions: “Snowfalls will continue. They are predicting snowfalls today, tomorrow and the day after tomorrow.”

The ongoing snowfalls have already led to a deterioration in the road situation in the city.
