Yakutsk City Hall to develop landfill reclamation project in 2026

The city administration of Yakutsk plans to spend 1.5 million rubles ($15,800 at current rates) on developing project documentation for the reclamation of a city landfill scheduled for 2026.

Yakutsk City Hall will spend 1.5 million rubles ($15,800 at current rates) on developing project and estimate documentation for the reclamation of the city landfill at the 9th kilometer of the Vilyuisky Tract, according to the Yakutsk budget law published on the administration«s website.

Earlier, city head Yevgeny Grigoryev told a 14.RU correspondent that the city needs to build a waste transfer station and reclaim the old landfill.

A new landfill has already been built at the 27th kilometer of the Vilyuisky Tract. To facilitate waste transportation, a waste transfer station is needed.

The cost of a mobile station is estimated at 100–120 million rubles ($1.05–1.26 million at current rates). According to the mayor, the old city landfill of Yakutsk was supposed to close back in 1986.
