X5 Group Comments on Police Raids at Perekryostok Stores

Police and Rosgvardia officers conducted raids on Perekryostok stores following a fatal incident at a supermarket.

On January 24, the press service of X5 Retail Group reported that the Perekryostok distribution center is operating normally. Deliveries to the chain«s stores have not been interrupted.

«The distribution center is working normally, and deliveries to the store have not stopped,» noted X5 Group.

Mass checks of Perekryostok stores began after an incident on the evening of January 21. At the City Mall shopping center, security guards of the supermarket, suspecting a customer of theft, roughly detained him, knocking him to the floor. The man lost consciousness and was taken to the hospital in a state of clinical death, where he died.

On January 24, the raids continued. With the involvement of over 1,400 police and Rosgvardia (Russian National Guard) officers, 139 retail outlets and the X5 Retail Group distribution center were checked. As a result, nearly 400 people were taken to police stations.
