In Kurgan, residents of the Severny district lost heating and hot water for the second time in several days. The first accident was repaired on January 31, and on February 2 a new leak formed on the «Sever-2» heat main. This morning, heat and water were shut off in Severny. Residents of Dzerzhinsky, Nekrasov, Burov-Petrov streets and Mashinostroiteley Avenue were also left without these utilities in the middle of winter. A 45.RU correspondent visited the site to see how the work was progressing.
Utility crews discovered the latest leak on the Sever-2 heat main on Monday, February 2.

In the morning, crews dismantled the damaged section and replaced the pipeline. Local resident Yekaterina told a 45.RU correspondent that there have been problems with the networks in Severny for a long time — utility workers often dig up the mains on Raboche-Krestyanskaya Street.

«Heating was never turned off. The first time was on Saturday. So on Saturday and Sunday the radiators were cold. I just went now — they«re still cold. And we pay so much for utilities! How many houses, how many people, how many apartments! They could have replaced everything long ago. But these pipes date back to Soviet times. Iron can»t handle it, it bursts. They fix one spot, it bursts in another,» said Yekaterina.
Residents complain that this section of the heat main is frequently repaired.

Another resident, Katerina, has lived in Severny for four years. She was understanding. «There«s no way to predict when an accident will happen. And there»s no need to blame the utility workers. They«re doing their best. They worked all night over the weekend. No need to be upset. The good thing is that the accident didn»t happen during the frost, but after it. It«s warm outside, and it»s not too cold in the apartments. And if it gets cooler, we can warm up with hot tea,» explained Katerina.
A crew of 35 workers is working to fix the leak on the Sever-2 heat main.

Director of SP «Teplovye seti» (Heat Networks) Yevgeny Filimonov told a 45.RU correspondent that repair work is planned to be completed by 10 p.m.
Energy workers need to replace 12 meters of pipe with a diameter of one meter.

«Today we completely pumped out the coolant from the channel at night. At 8:45 a.m. we shut off the heat main, began draining and dismantling. Installation work is now underway. In total, we plan to replace a section of pipeline 12 meters long with a diameter of 1000 mm, that is one meter. It is a large diameter,» said Yevgeny Filimonov.
Energy workers have been working almost without rest since the leak was discovered.

He noted that the leak on the Sever-2 heat main occurred due to wear and tear. Last summer after hydraulic tests, crews fixed more than a dozen defects.

«To provide heat to residents of the central part of the city, we completely switched the heating load to the Yug heat main. It is necessary to understand that the Yug heat main without the Sever-2 main cannot fully handle the entire load, so some homes will have reduced parameters, but most homes have heat,» noted Yevgeny Filimonov.
