Night silence on February 2 on Narodnaya Street in Stavropol ended with a fire and a death. Late in the evening, a private residential house caught fire. Neighbors noticed the flames and called the fire brigade.
Emergency services from the Stavropol Krai Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM) arrived promptly. The fire was extinguished over an area of 80 square meters, but tragedy was unavoidable. During the overhaul and debris removal, rescuers found the body of the 61-year-old homeowner — the woman had died.
A total of 24 EMERCOM specialists and 7 units of equipment were involved in extinguishing the fire.
According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the cause of the fire may have been an overheated stove. An investigation is underway and a fire-technical examination has been ordered.
