A reader reported on February 2 that at house 9 on Pugachev Street in the Krasnogvardeysky District of St. Petersburg, while trying to turn on the gas stove, fountains of water gushed from the burners.
The mishap stemmed from residents incorrectly connecting gas pipes in a Stalin-era apartment building.
An investigation revealed that the cause was the incorrect installation of a gas water heater by residents of one apartment. They confused the pipes, lacking the necessary knowledge and qualifications for such work.
Due to the incident, cooking had to be postponed. The residents called the emergency gas service, whose specialists identified the responsible party and spent time draining water from the internal system.
According to the latest updates, gas supply to the building«s apartments has been restored, and kitchen stoves are now operating normally.
