In St. Petersburg, the recent warming has caused leaks in apartments in the city center.

Documentary filmmaker Anton Kattin, who lives on Sotsialisticheskaya Street, has been dealing with melting snow on the roof causing water to drip from the ceiling for several years. Similar incidents occurred in December 2023 and recurred in January 2026.
Interior damage in an apartment showing peeled wallpaper and water stains from ceiling leaks.
«It started yesterday evening. The roof was cleaned the day before yesterday, but only the icicles and edges; they didn»t remove all the snow from the roof, and it accumulates, especially in the corner of the house, above us. That«s the result,» Anton said.
Back in July 2025, he filed an application for roof repair, but never received a response from the managing company, ZhKS No. 2 of the Central District. According to the resident, the roof hasn«t been repaired since 2010, even though after the flood in winter 2023, representatives of the managing company promised to do the work.
During information gathering, the building management organization drew up a report naming the cause of the leak as icing of the cornice overhang and heavy snowfalls. The document also notes that on January 21, snow and ice were removed from the roof, which Anton confirmed.
He expressed hope that the roof will be repaired, otherwise in spring, the apartment will experience «rain» again.
A similar situation has occurred at house No. 6 on Soldatsky Lane, where resident Lyudmila has wallpaper peeling and finishes deteriorating due to leaks. The woman has been appealing to various authorities for several years, but the problem isn«t fundamentally solved.
In February 2022, following her complaint, the State Housing Inspection visited and determined that the cause was melting snow and the separation of seams on the roof. At that time, the roof was cleaned and repaired, but as Lyudmila notes, it didn«t last long.
«We have leaks every year. It gets worse and worse each year. The apartment is falling apart before our eyes. We constantly do repairs, and everything leaks again,» she said.
After another flood, she appealed to ZhKS No. 3 of the Central District, but no response has been received yet.
Representatives of the publication also failed to contact the managing company via the provided phone numbers.
Later, on January 21, the administration of the Central District reported that the roofs at both addresses have been cleared of snow.
«Managing organizations have been instructed on the need to take measures for current roof repairs and proper maintenance of common property,» emphasized the press service.
The district housing agency, together with the managing company, has been tasked with documenting the consequences of the leaks and eliminating them.
