Voronezh urges residents to recycle Christmas trees

On the weekend, residents of Voronezh will be able to hand over their Christmas trees at a specially opened collection point — this was announced by the regional Ministry of Housing and Communal Services and Energy. Trees that have served their holiday duty will be accepted on January 24 and 25 from 11:00 to 15:00 at the Professor Koza-Polyansky Botanical Garden of Voronezh State University at the address: Olympic Boulevard, 12.

— Coniferous trees will be turned into wood chips, which will be used for mulching, path surfacing, and also as an additive to soil for plants that prefer acidic soils. They are called acidophiles, — explain at the Botanical Garden. — These include blueberries, lingonberries, bilberries, rhododendrons, heathers, clethras, pieris, azaleas, some hydrangeas.

So, the streets will be clean, and the trees will get a second life — and it«s beneficial for nature. And by the way, about needles: in early January, in the Voronezh Botanical Garden… cacti ripened — fruits were produced by the disc opuntia, which bloomed profusely last summer.
