In the coming days, forecasters predict real winter weather in Voronezh — a fleeting thaw teased residents, replaced by tolerable sub-zero temperatures. But real challenges lie ahead.
On the night of February 2, Voronezh is promised temperatures as low as -30°C (-22°F), and in the coming days, the city will see heavy snow. For more details on the weather for the coming days, read here.
Meanwhile, Voronezh Mayor Sergei Petrin reported that due to the bad weather, the city administration has switched to an enhanced work mode. Under conditions of severe frost and heavy snowfall, utility workers have been ordered to prepare for emergencies.
Emergency teams from heating supply organizations and management companies must be fully ready to promptly deal with non-standard situations.
Special control will be established over public transport: vehicles must be warmed up on time, especially at night, and must go out on schedule.
If the frost is as severe as forecast, a decision may be made to suspend school operations. Kindergartens will remain open, but employers are asked to consider that parents may decide not to take their child to kindergarten due to the cold, and there may be no one to leave the child with.
It is worth recalling that at temperatures of -25°C (-13°F), schoolchildren may not go to school. It should be remembered that at such outdoor temperatures, classrooms are usually quite chilly as well.
Traffic police (GAI) employees will help utility workers clean the streets, so it«s definitely not advisable to leave cars parked in unauthorized places these days. They will be towed away along with the snowdrifts.
Tonight, snow removal is planned from streets: Platonova, Stankevicha, Svoboda, Krasnoarmeyskaya, Taranchenko, Ordzhonikidze, Dzerzhinsky, Plekhanovskaya, 25 Oktyabrya, Teatralnaya, Revolution Avenue, Lenin Square, sections of Karl Marx Street, Studencheskaya, and a number of others.
