Deputy of the Voronezh City Duma Alexander Sysoev («United Russia»), who chairs the standing commission on housing and communal services, road management, and improvement, published a video address in his Telegram channel on 29 January—a paean to the work of Voronezh officials and utility workers, and a rebuke to citizens dissatisfied with it. According to Alexander Vladimirovich, employees of both the mayor«s office and management companies, and the State Housing Inspectorate (GZI)—with the participation of deputies, of course—are doing everything possible to combat the winter elements. Management companies, for example, are contracting with district improvement plants to help clear snow and ice from the courtyards of apartment buildings.

Deputy Sysoev«s full address includes advice for residents, which starts several minutes into the video.

In the opinion of the people«s representative, what we are observing now—and the forecasts for approaching frosts and snowfall—is not just winter, but an »extraordinary phenomenon«. In January and February, imagine. And it turns out that all services involved in city management are doing everything to repel the attacks of the elements fully armed.

— As for snow removal—that is, paths and so on—don«t grumble. Everyone needs to participate—well, feasible participation, those who are younger. You need to get up, get off your butt, as they say—and help near the entrance, clean the area around the house, very briefly. Because if we say »they should do it«—in my view, we won»t solve the problem.

According to Sysoev, the rectors of almost all Voronezh universities have responded to his deputy«s call to »allocate students« this coming Sunday and Monday, and the sports academy—where he is himself rector—is »ahead of everyone«.

In this regard, one question arises: where do over a thousand people injured from ice come from every week. And two reminders suggest themselves to the respected deputy. Officials and municipal utility workers receive salaries from the budget—from people«s taxes, and residents pay management companies considerable money for the maintenance of areas around houses—point one. Point two: prosecutors have a different opinion regarding the Herculean efforts of city services against the »extraordinary« winter elements—dozens of administrative cases have already been initiated, and the mayor has been served with a reprimand. It»s good when everyone minds their own business—there«s more order.
