Volgograd trolleybus passengers report double fare deductions

In Volgograd, the chaos with cashless fare payment in public transport continues. While some complain about non-working validators and the need to pay in cash, others lament that a single trip costs twice as much due to double deductions.

A Volgograd resident named Yevgeny encountered an extremely unpleasant situation. The man noticed that funds for fare payment are being deducted from his card twice.

— I noticed that notifications about deductions were coming too frequently, — the man said. — I usually ride public transport twice a day, in the morning and evening, but SMS messages about deductions are coming much more often for some reason. For example, today at 07:55 I paid for a ride from the railway station to the Central Park of Culture and Leisure. At 08:10, a notification about a deduction for the ride arrives. And at 08:20, it arrives again with a repeat deduction. I literally and physically could not pay again on the trolleybus at 08:20: I was already at my workplace! — the passenger indignantly said.

The organization «Volna», which services payment systems in public transport, suggested that the problem might be caused by interruptions in mobile internet.

— Mobile internet in the city is not available everywhere, often transport passes through areas where there is no internet, this disrupts the work of validators. Most likely, in this case, some kind of failure occurred, — the operator said.

The organization explained that to check deductions and recalculate in case of erroneous operations, the passenger needs to submit a written appeal to the «Volna» email.

— Go to our email, it is indicated on the website, write in free form what happened with your deductions, indicate the last four or six digits of your bank card. If you have screenshots, attach them to the letter. And preferably, of course, a contact number so that we can contact the passenger by phone. You will receive a response in any case. If you indeed had deductions, we should make a recalculation and return the money.

While some city residents experience double deductions, others cannot pay with a card at all. Validators in tram cabins simply do not accept payment, and the screens on the cubes simply display a message that the program is not loading.

— I tried to pay for the ride on all validators of tram number 2, they simply did not respond. One, however, seemed to say it was paid, but its screen froze, the image did not change once during the entire trip. Many passengers, after being refused a couple of times, decided simply not to pay for the ride, — a Volgograd woman recounts.

The V1.RU editorial office is clarifying with the city administration what is causing the problems with cashless fare payment in public transport.

Recall that earlier city residents reported problems with fare payment in trams and insistent requests from controllers to leave the cabin to those who could not pay by card and did not have cash on hand to pay the driver.
