The company Concessions of Water Supply has begun selecting contractors for a large-scale renewal of water supply systems in Volgograd. According to auction documentation, the estimated cost of the project is approximately 1.3 billion rubles (approximately $14.3 million), with implementation scheduled until December 2027.

The reconstruction will be carried out in two phases in the two southern districts — Kirovsky and Sovetsky. The technical assignment for contractors includes the full cycle of work: from developing design and estimate documentation to construction, installation, and subsequent commissioning.

The list of facilities to be built and reconstructed includes:

  • a 1.8-kilometer (1.1-mile) water pipeline along 64th Army Street and Universitetsky Avenue (from building 135 on 64th Army Street to the «Gornaya Polyana» pumping station);
  • the «Gornaya Polyana-3» pumping station with 250-meter (820-foot) connecting utilities;
  • a water conduit along Tyulenina, Solnechnikova, and Tormosinovskaya streets (from Kursekov Street to Universitetsky Avenue);
  • water supply networks with a total length of 2.1 kilometers (1.3 miles) along Stepykina and Slesarnaya streets (from the water conduit on 64th Army Street to the residential area on Slesarnaya Street);
  • a 2.8-kilometer (1.7-mile) water conduit from a site on Nebesnaya Street to Zvonkaya Street;
  • a 14.5-kilometer (9-mile) ring water conduit laid along Kazanskaya Street (from Khimina Street).

Note that residents of the Kirovsky and Sovetsky districts have recently faced serious water supply disruptions. They were left without hot and cold water for almost a day, and the shutdown occurred without prior notice. According to utility services, the cause was frazil ice, which hindered the pumps« intake of water from the Volga River.
