In Volgograd, students at the Railway Transport and Communications Technical College complain of terrible cold in classrooms and the dormitory. According to the students, half the groups are not attending classes due to illness, and those living in the dormitory, where there are also heating problems, have their personal heaters confiscated, with threats of expulsion.
— There is no heating in Building No. 2 on Geroev Maloy Zemli Street and in the dormitory. Students are forced to sit in lectures in outerwear — jackets, hats, multiple pairs of socks — because the classrooms are very cold. The administration not only does not solve the problem but has also taken away students« personal heaters in the dormitory — their only way to warm up. Moreover, students are openly threatened with expulsion if they do not hand over the heaters. That is, instead of providing heat, they are taking away their last means of escaping the cold.
Another problem, according to the students, is the electricity supply in the building on Sologubova Street, 56.
— In some rooms, there is no electricity, complain the future railway workers. — Some have to write notes, illuminating themselves with flashlights from their mobile phones. Students are falling ill en masse; in lectures, out of 25 people in a group, fewer than 10 are present.
The technical college director, Galina Akishenko, acknowledged the problems, stating that some of them are in the process of being resolved, some have already been solved:
— At the entrance to the dormitory building and Building No. 2, the temperature of the supplied resource has indeed dropped; work with «Heating Concessions» is underway, a letter has been sent to them, commented the head on the students« complaints. — The electricity issue has already been resolved.
