Lyubov Merkulova, a resident of the village of Kolobovka, lost her unborn daughter due to internal bleeding during a complex operation on May 21, 2023. After the intervention, the 37-year-old woman lost the ability to have children. She is still seeking answers about the causes of the tragedy, but the investigation did not find anyone guilty.
Despite forecasters predicting warming on Wednesday, the Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM) warns of abnormal frosts. Complaints about the cold have come from various parts of the region: in a cottage community near Volgograd, heating was cut off due to problems with the Defense Ministry«s networks; schoolchildren were partially switched to remote learning; a multi-apartment building experienced power outages; and residents of the Medvedev khutor (hamlet) suffer from a faulty boiler house.
Officials explained the cold in public transport by the frequent opening of doors at stops. In «Concessii Teplosnabzheniya» (Heat Supply Concessions), they stated that the temperature in apartments meets standards, adding that «the concept of »cold« is subjective for everyone.»
On Golubinskaya Street, a car hit a pedestrian at a crossing near the gates of Detention Center No. 1. The victim was taken to the hospital, and her condition is being clarified. The intersection near the detention center is considered dangerous due to tram traffic and a «Pedestrian Crossing» sign that is poorly visible from Rokossovsky Street because of tree branches.
In Krasnoslobodsk, horses have been freely roaming the streets for half a year, feeding from garbage bins and creating hazardous situations. The animals also damage fences and overturn containers.
At Volgograd gas stations, prices have risen again. At Lukoil stations, gasoline has become more expensive by 20-40 kopecks, while diesel fuel maintains a price of 75.73 rubles per liter (approximately $1 at current rates). The Rosneft network has not changed prices since January 2, and Gazpromneft increased prices at the beginning of the year and then by another 40 kopecks over two weeks.
