Volgograd searches for missing schoolgirl in freezing weather

Search efforts are ongoing in the Kirovsky District of Volgograd for a 12-year-old schoolgirl who went missing in freezing weather. According to her mother, the child left the apartment in the morning to take out the trash but did not return. Police have joined the operation to find the child.

The missing girl«s mother detailed what happened: »My daughter left at 11:00 to throw away the trash. Before this, when she went out, there were never any problems. She goes there and back. The trash area is very close to us, a minute«s walk from home. Thirty minutes passed, and she wasn»t back. We rushed to look for her,« she said. »Dad went to search for her by car, and I started looking in the stairwell. We noticed that she didn«t take the house keys. We drove around the entire Kolizey residential complex, but she wasn»t there. Our child has a disability; she might have reacted and gone to school. She knows which bus to take and how to get there. Dad went to Krasnoarmeysky, reached the school, and she was nowhere to be found.«

According to the woman, she has already filed a report with law enforcement. Police went to the Cosmos shopping center, located in the Kirovsky District, to conduct a check.

At the time of her disappearance, the girl was wearing the following clothing:

• a light jacket with fur,
• a light hat with black ear flaps,
• black pants,
• boots.

Her description: height 134 cm (approximately 4 feet 5 inches), average build, light brown hair, and brown eyes.

Earlier, in the Kikvidzensky District, the search for a 15-year-old teenager who went missing on New Year«s Eve concluded. His body was found on the morning of January 1st, just steps away from home. Preliminary information indicates that hypothermia was the cause of death. The head of the Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin, demanded a report on the progress of the criminal investigation into the death of the minor in the village of Zavyazka.
