Concert of Ivan Zolo in Volgograd is scheduled for 15 March, starting at 18:00. Ticket prices range from 1,000 rubles ($11 at current rates) for a standing area ticket to 4,500 rubles ($50 at current rates) for a premium package that includes soundcheck, meeting with the artist, and photo opportunities.
Many residents of the city strongly condemned this event. They point to incidents that occurred at the streamer«s concerts in other cities: fights, crowding, breaking glass doors, as well as throwing underwear and condoms onto the stage. Particular outrage is caused by the age rating of 0+ given the show»s content.
In comments on local news sites, residents expressed their opinions:
- «I judge by appearances and that«s that… God forbid your children have idols like that.»
- «What kind of artists do we have? The masters of the stage are leaving, there are few replacements.»
- «I»ll go to Shaman. His tickets may be more expensive, but he«s worth it. Not this stuffed dummy. Nowadays anyone who wants sings.»
- «Fights, riots, condoms, underwear, and no age restrictions — 0+… Why are such people even allowed on stage?»
- «So they»re foisting these «talents» on the hero city of Volgograd to corrupt the youth!»
- «It would be good to start a boycott so that this streamer doesn«t come here.»
- «Who allows this? We have a so-called minister of culture, where are they looking? Or are they living on another planet? Wake up already, use your brains! What is going on?»
However, there were also those who opposed bans. One user noted: «Regarding the discontent about the concert, let fans decide with their wallets whether it«s needed here or not. But just to go and ban what you don»t like — that«s rock bottom.»
Similar protests have already led to the cancellation of Ivan Zolo«s concert in Cherepovets (Vologda Oblast). Mayor Roman Maslov stated: «Today, concerned parents approached me in the comments regarding the planned concert by performer Ivan Zolo. We pay close attention to the moral health of our youth. I consider it important to ensure cultural events that are safe and aligned with societal values. Following prompt interaction with the venue»s management, a decision has been made to cancel this artist«s concert in Cherepovets. Thank you for the feedback — your opinion helps us build a sound cultural policy for the city.»
This is not the first time a concert by an artist has caused public outcry in Volgograd. Previously, posters announcing a performance by Lolita were vandalized in the city, and participants of the special military operation appealed to the regional prosecutor with complaints about the singer.
The editorial board is currently awaiting a response from the Volgograd administration regarding the complaints from residents.
