Volgograd residents face mass cold water outages

In northern Volgograd, mass disruptions in cold water supply have been recorded since the end of January, with residents unable to get clear information from emergency services.

Among the first to report were residents of Zamechetinsky settlement, Ivan Franko Street, which had previously attracted the attention of law enforcement. Buildings without water include houses No. 8 and 10 on this street, as well as structures on Brasovskaya Street.

«We haven»t had water for several days,« local residents report. »We call the management company, they say they«ve sent a request, but don»t know anything else. Today, calls are answered by a virtual assistant. We called the housing and utilities department, they say they«re looking for the problem, but don»t know anything yet.«

Complaints also came from residents of house No. 107 on Lenin Avenue and house No. 72 on Metallurgov Avenue. In the latter case, a resident said: «It all started on Friday evening when all our water was cut off. After a day, it was restored, but only hot water reached our house No. 72. Cold water is still absent, for almost a week now.»

According to a city resident, «Concessions Water Supply» advised cooling hot water for household needs. «But this isn»t a solution. Hot water is technical, not purified like cold, drinking water. Using it for cooking and drinking is extremely dangerous. We«re forced to buy bottled water, and for household needs—boil and cool it, which is absurd and expensive,» he explained.

«Concessions Water Supply» commented on the situation. On Ivan Franko Street, a burst was found on the water pipeline, and a crew will soon begin to fix it. At Lenin Avenue, 107, water supply from the heat supply organization has not been interrupted.

As for Metallurgov Avenue, on January 28, restoration work was carried out there, affecting four houses. The work was completed, and water supply was restored at 22:10 on the same day.
