Volgograd Region to Face Frosts Down to -30°C

The Volgograd region is expecting a period of severe frosts. In some areas, temperatures may drop to -30°C (-22°F). In the regional center, it will be slightly warmer but also cold. Meteorologists have issued a forecast for the next three days.
On Friday, 26 January, daytime temperatures will be -12…-17°C (10…1°F), with winds up to 11 m/s. At night, it will cool down to -20…-25°C (-4…-13°F), and under clear skies, down to -30°C (-22°F). In Volgograd, daytime temperatures are expected to be -14…-16°C (7…3°F), and at night -20…-22°C (-4…-8°F). Specialists warn of possible icy conditions on the roads.
On Saturday, 27 January, wind gusts will increase to 12 m/s. Across the region, daytime temperatures are forecast at -12…-17°C (10…1°F), and at night -20…-25°C (-4…-13°F), with a possible drop to -28°C (-18°F) in clear weather. In the city, daytime temperatures will remain at -12…-14°C (10…7°F), and at night will fall to -21…-23°C (-6…-9°F).
On Sunday, 28 January, winds may reach 13 m/s. In some areas, light snow is expected, with possible fog in the morning and at night, and icy conditions will persist. Daytime temperatures across the region will be -2…-7°C (28…19°F), and nighttime temperatures -15…-20°C (5…-4°F). In Volgograd, thermometers will show -3…-5°C (27…23°F) during the day and -15…-17°C (5…1°F) at night.
Amid the frosts, the village of Zaplavnoye in the Leninsky District has experienced disruptions in water supply and heating. Due to pump failure and the shutdown of a boiler house, residents have been forced to buy water and use electric heaters. Additionally, complaints about cold in apartments continue to come from residents of Volgograd.
