Artem Kuliev, a resident of Volgograd, has recovered over two million rubles (approximately $20,000 at current rates) from two plastic surgery clinics for a poorly performed nose operation through the court.
The primary surgical intervention took place in 2022. It led to complications, requiring the patient to undergo a series of additional procedures at other medical institutions.
Contracts for paid services were concluded with Lux Medclinic LLC on April 24, 2022, and with Maka-Med LLC on February 17, 2023.
In the decision of the Dzerzhinsky District Court, it was noted:
The said services were provided to him by the defendants poorly, which was established by the appellate ruling of the judicial panel for civil cases of the Volgograd Regional Court of November 20, 2024, with reference to the existence of a causal connection between the services provided and the adverse consequences for his health and appearance.
After two operations, on which over 500,000 rubles (approximately $5,000 at current rates) were spent, the patient«s condition did not improve. Instead, new health problems arose.
During an examination at a Moscow clinic, numerous complications were identified. The court cited the experts« conclusion:
According to the conclusion: CT scan shows bilateral maxillary sinusitis, rhinitis, local hyperplasia of the mucosa of all paranasal sinuses, hypertrophy of the nasal turbinates on both sides, and deviation of the nasal septum.
Kuliev filed the first lawsuit for damages in 2023. Part of the claims was satisfied, but compensation for moral damage was denied on January 31, 2024. The appeal brought no changes.
The consequences were finally corrected only at a capital medical institute, where the man applied later. The cost of this operation was 631,000 rubles (approximately $6,300 at current rates).
Subsequently, he filed another lawsuit. The new court decision obligated the clinics to jointly pay a large compensation. The united press service of the courts of the Volgograd region reported:
From the defendants, jointly and severally, in favor of the plaintiff, damages in the amount of 684,510 rubles (approximately $6,800 at current rates) were recovered, a penalty for the period from September 9, 2025, to December 17, 2025 — 684,510 rubles (approximately $6,800), interest for the use of other people«s funds for the same period — 31,506 rubles (approximately $315), compensation for moral damage — 10,000 rubles (approximately $100), a fine — 705,263 rubles (approximately $7,100), and expenses for legal services — 80,000 rubles (approximately $800).
The total amount of recovery exceeded two million rubles (approximately $20,000 at current rates). The decision was made in absentia, not appealed, and entered into legal force.
