Volgograd Loader Gets Two Years for Terrorism Justification

The Southern District Military Court sentenced 35-year-old Vladimir Kravchenko, a resident of Surovikino (Volgograd Oblast). He was found guilty under the article on justifying terrorist activities on the internet and sentenced to two years in a general-regime penal colony.

According to a statement from the press service of the FSB Directorate for Volgograd Oblast, the man made statements in the Telegram messenger positively assessing the activities of a Ukrainian paramilitary group. The Supreme Court of Russia had previously designated this organization as terrorist, but its name is not disclosed in the case materials.

Vladimir Kravchenko studied at Cossack Cadet Vocational School No. 43 from 2005 to 2008. He acquired several specialties:

  • master of agricultural production,
  • driver of cars and trucks,
  • tractor operator,
  • repair mechanic, 3rd class.

Later he took private security courses and worked as a loader at the Surovikino Elevator for more than ten years. At the time the case was opened, Kravchenko was looking for work as a tractor driver or truck driver.

The criminal case was opened under Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code of Russia based on operational materials from the FSB. In addition to the prison sentence, the court also banned the convict from engaging in activities related to website administration for two years. The verdict has not yet entered into force and can be appealed.
