The trial in the high-profile case, where a man rewrote a multi-million inheritance to his mistress, left a suicide note, and killed himself in his own apartment in southern Volgograd, has been postponed due to the judge«s resignation.
Recall that the shocking drama with suicide, strange funeral, and personal diary unfolded in the Krasnoarmeysky district. 53-year-old Yevgeny Asaulenko committed suicide in his own apartment and left a suicide note: «Natasha, please forgive me, I love you very much, but everything is hopeless for me. Thank you for everything. Forgive and farewell. Live, despite everything, and live for me too!» He left all his inheritance to Natasha: a three-room apartment, shares in Lukoil for a large sum, garages, and land shares.
The only relatives of Yevgeny Asaulenko—his nephews—learned of their uncle«s death completely by accident when they came to the cemetery on Easter day. They later found out about his suicide, cremation, mysterious diary, and that all their uncle»s inheritance had passed to a stranger to their family… The deceased«s mistress has her own version of events. Details were collected in our separate article.
The deceased«s relatives are trying to reclaim the inheritance through the Krasnoarmeysky District Court. Several hearings have taken place where both sides in the case presented their arguments. As lawyer Tatyana Levshinskaya, representing one of the nephews, told V1.RU, the civil case is now being considered by a new judge.
«Due to the resignation of the previous judge—she retired—the case is being considered from the beginning and with a new panel. The parties presented their arguments again, each conveying their position. The court expert has been questioned, but the fact that the answer to the last question is missing raises doubts about the examination. The question »Was he aware of his actions when writing the will a month before the suicide« remained unanswered. However, in the examination, the deceased was given a diagnosis according to ICD. This means that the man was found to have a disease in a certain form,» the lawyer says. «The notary also participates in every court session, travels with his representative, apparently worried that the will might be declared invalid. The court will additionally send inquiries to private clinics and medical institutions.»
