In Volgograd, on Student Day, January 25, a strict ban on alcohol sales has been imposed. Buying alcoholic beverages today will not be possible in any of the city«s stores, and not only for students and those named Tatyana (associated with the holiday), but for all residents regardless of age.
Recall that today is International Students« Day, due to which a total ban on the sale of any types of alcoholic products in retail networks has been established. Alcohol is also not sold on International Children»s Day, which is celebrated on June 1, on the last Saturday of June – Youth Day – and on Knowledge Day (September 1). However, there is a clarification: if September 1 falls on a Sunday, the ban on alcohol sales is in effect on the following day.
The restriction traditionally will be in effect from 08:00 to 23:00. Announcements warning about the ban on alcohol sales in stores appeared yesterday, and alcohol sections were blocked off with carts. Those who realized that for some reason they cannot do without alcohol today stocked up in advance. However, there are also those who take alcohol from the shelves as if nothing is wrong, despite the restrictions. Here is what sellers told us about what happens in stores on such days.
«On days like today, for example, it«s chaos in the stores. Everywhere there are signs saying that alcohol is prohibited today. But what do our people do? They move the paper aside, take alcohol, go to the checkout. And when you tell them that alcohol is not sold today, they ask: »And for what reason? What signs? Do I have to read too?« Or another traditional objection: »Well, I«m not a student, not a schoolchild, not a child.» Or: «What, not sold at all?» It is sold! Today — a cork (meaning no sales), and you«ll come for the bottle tomorrow. Of course, every person has their own logic. But by the end of the working day, you»re already shaking from the word «alcohol,»» a store seller told V1.RU.
