A Volgograd resident named Yarulla, who owns three firms in Novosibirsk, will pay Aeroflot over 100,000 rubles (about $1,100 at current rates) for disrupting a flight to Moscow. The company filed a lawsuit to recover losses caused by the disturbance and a fight in the cabin that was started by the unruly passenger.
This was reported by the press service of the Dzerzhinsky District Court. The lawsuit states that it all happened on October 10, 2023.
— In violation of flight safety rules, he ignored the flight attendants« demands to fasten his seatbelt. Moreover, he stood up in the aircraft aisle and began waving his arms, insulting passengers with crude obscenities, which provoked a fight.
The flight attendants reported the troublemaker to the aircraft commander, who decided to return to the terminal and hand the unruly passenger over to the police. A report was filed against the man under the article «Petty Hooliganism,» and later Aeroflot went to court with a lawsuit to recover losses.
The criminal case was heard twice due to the involvement of a third party — the Volgograd Linear Department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for Transport. On January 12, the court announced a default judgment: to recover from the defendant 109,237 rubles (about $1,200) in damages and 4,679 rubles (about $52) in court costs. At the end of January, a copy of the decision was sent to the defendant, and at the time of publication, it is unknown whether it has been appealed.
From the defendant«s social media, it is known that the man is now 43 years old. He states that he graduated from the Astrakhan Technical College and previously studied at Volgograd State Agrarian University (VolGAU). Attempts to reach him via known V1.RU contacts were unsuccessful. Meanwhile, according to data from the counterparty check service »Kontur.Focus,« the man is an entrepreneur owning three firms in Novosibirsk. One is engaged in the wholesale sale of plumbing and heating equipment, two — in the production of sanitary-technical works, installation of heating systems and air conditioning systems. According to the results of 2024, all three companies showed revenue of 13 million rubles (about $144,400) and net profit of 403,000 rubles (about $4,500).
The V1.RU editorial office also sent an official request to Aeroflot asking for comment on the court decision and clarification on the methodology for calculating losses.
