Volgodonsk Heat Outage: Over 70 Homes Without Heat After Pipe Burst

The pipeline«s severe deterioration contributed to the rupture that left residents without heating.
In Volgodonsk, a large pipeline burst, leaving apartment buildings and several social facilities without heating and hot water. The utility emergency was commented on by the head of the region, Yury Slyusar.
“Currently, the installation of a new section of the pipeline is underway to fix the defect. The situation is difficult due to the high wear of the pipeline. We switched consumers to another circuit,” Slyusar noted.
Work is ongoing around the clock. By 18:00, specialists completed the main stage — pipe end-preparation* — and began installing the new section.
Once welding work is finished, the mainline will gradually be filled. Residents will be connected in stages, not all at once.
The accident occurred on 28 January; initially expected that heat would be restored by 6 a.m. on 29 January, but that did not happen.
* Pipe end is trimmed evenly to make it easier to connect two pipes together.
