Administrative cases have been initiated in Sochi against the Loo-Arena hotel complex following a case of norovirus infection among children who stayed there in early January. This was reported to TASS by the territorial department of Rospotrebnadzor (the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing) in the Krasnodar Krai resort city of Sochi.

According to official data, in early January, four children who came to Sochi for competitions and stayed at the Loo-Arena were diagnosed with norovirus genotype 2. However, judging by media reports, there were many more complaints. Similar symptoms were reported by a team of young rugby and football players. All children living in the complex were placed under medical observation. After the tournament ended, all participants returned home.

«During the epidemiological investigation, violations of the requirements of sanitary-epidemiological legislation and legislation in the field of technical regulation were identified in the organization of children»s meals. Based on the results of the identified violations, administrative offense cases have been initiated against the economic entity operating in the Loo-Arena hotel complex,« TASS quotes the official response from the supervisory authority.

Rospotrebnadzor had previously stated that the source of the infection was employees of the hotel complex. A full range of sanitary and anti-epidemic measures were carried out on the territory of the Loo-Arena to prevent further spread of the disease.
