Urals Federal District to Host International Adaptive Fashion Competition

The Urals Federal District will become the venue for the regional stage of the International Adaptive Fashion Competition «On Wings». It is organized by the «Defenders of the Fatherland» foundation. The project is designed to promote the search for new ideas and technologies in clothing design and improve its quality.

— Adaptive fashion is one of the directions that emerged in response to the needs of people with special needs, particularly veterans who sustained severe injuries during the special military operation. Its development is an important step towards creating an environment where every person feels free and confident, and can realize themselves in any sphere, — emphasized Artem Zhoga, the presidential plenipotentiary envoy in the Urals Federal District.

Participants will present practical and aesthetic clothing models for various scenarios at the competition. In their work, they will focus on people with special needs, considering their active lifestyle, engagement in adaptive sports, as well as reinterpreting the heritage of different peoples of the country.

— The «On Wings» competition is part of the comprehensive work of the «Defenders of the Fatherland» foundation to support veterans of the special military operation with disabilities. By developing the adaptive fashion industry and creating comfortable, functional, and stylish clothing, we give them the opportunity to feel confidence in themselves and their own abilities. This directly contributes to successful resocialization and return to an active life, — noted Anna Tsivileva, State Secretary – Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the «Defenders of the Fatherland» foundation.

The competition includes six nominations: «We Are Family», «Sport and Active Life», «Everyday Comfort», «From Workday to Active Pursuits», «Celebration», and «With Care During Recovery».

The application period for participants will last until February 28. The winners of the regional competition will be announced at the interregional competitions «Defenders of the Fatherland Cup», which will be held in Yekaterinburg in April.
