Ulyanovsk residents drown less often: regional EMERCOM sums up year's results

Regional emergency services note a reduction in water-related deaths in Ulyanovsk for the year.
In 2025, 16 people died on water bodies in Ulyanovsk Region, the regional EMERCOM reported. This is six fewer than in 2024. The improvement in the situation is attributed to the late start of the beach season, as well as hot days often being followed by rain and cooler weather. Patrolling was also conducted at sites of mass recreation on water bodies and at unauthorized swimming locations. Last summer, a total of 15 beaches were operational in the region, with mobile posts staffed by rescuers.
Recall that after the completion of the bridge reconstruction over the Sviyaga River on Minayeva Street, city authorities planned to revive the old city beach. The catch is that it can only be used for sunbathing — swimming in the river is not recommended due to dirty water. Read more about it here.
Officially, the city still has three sites for mass water recreation — Central Beach, the beach in the Park of the 40th Anniversary of the Komsomol, and at the pit near the Borba settlement.
