City residents are actively discussing the payment sizes. One resident reported: «Apartment 78 square meters. Just for heating, six thousand rubles (about $67 at current rates), last year it was 3700 rubles (about $41).»
A reader wrote on social media: «I paid fifteen thousand rubles (about $167 at current rates) for 70 square meters. Soon it will be easier to rent than to maintain my own. It»s so frustrating.«
«For 11.8 square meters, a payment of 3877 rubles (about $43 at current rates) came. There are meters. I might as well move out!» another Tyumen resident indignantly said.
A man noted: «For a four-room apartment, 19,800 rubles (about $220 at current rates) came. It»s like living with a mortgage.«
Another resident shared: «It feels like I»m not living in my own apartment, but renting it. A bill for 15 thousand rubles (about $167 at current rates).«
Some city residents compared the new bills with those from previous months.
«I received 7885 rubles (about $88 at current rates) for an apartment of 35 square meters. In December, the payment was 5728 rubles (about $64 at current rates). It increased by almost 2200 rubles (about $24),» wrote a Tyumen resident.
Another resident provided the trend: in November he paid 10,700 rubles (about $119 at current rates), in December – 11,750 rubles (about $131 at current rates), and for January he was billed over 12 thousand rubles (about $133 at current rates).
The authorities of the Tyumen Region explained the increase in utility costs by the abnormally cold weather that set in the region in January.
In the regional government, citing USTEK specialists, they clarified: «Due to abnormal frosts in the Tyumen Region, bills for January will differ from the previous month. 97.8% of apartment buildings in the region are equipped with metering devices. Smart technology records the volume of consumed gigacalories around the clock. This data is distributed proportionally among all owners of apartments and non-residential premises in the building. When the outdoor temperature drops, the building consumes more heat to maintain comfortable conditions.»
Another increase in utility tariffs is planned for October of this year.
