Tyumen Opens Jubilee Year for City's 440th Anniversary

A crowd of citizens in front of the Tyumen administration on the day the jubilee year was opened.
On Thursday evening, January 29, the square near the city administration building on Pervomayskaya Street in Tyumen was filled with a crowd of people. Here, the celebrations for the city«s anniversary were launched.

The area near the city hall was cordoned off for the solemn ceremony.

A double-decker bus, intended for transporting the torch, waited near the administration.

The symbolic torch set off on a tour of the city on a special double-decker bus.
“Here, the jubilee year of Tyumen was solemnly opened — it will be 440 years old. Many people gathered, representatives from universities, they were with flags. There were officials, schoolchildren. The stage was cordoned off. On it, city head Maxim Afanasyev, singers, and dancers performed.”

The evening ended with a festive fireworks display over the square.
Then, a torch appeared on stage, which two young men placed in a double-decker bus. The transport with the symbol of the holiday set off on a trip through the city streets. The ceremony concluded with a colorful fireworks display.
The main festive events dedicated to Tyumen«s anniversary are scheduled for the summer. As previously reported by city head Maxim Afanasyev, they plan to set up a stage on the Tura River, invite famous artists, organize fireworks, and hold a large-scale festival.
