Trump Labels Arrested Don Lemon a 'Scoundrel'

Donald Trump has harshly criticized former CNN host Don Lemon, who was detained in Minnesota. According to media reports, on board the presidential plane the former president called Lemon a «scoundrel» and a «failed host.»

Trump, who has clashed with Lemon on multiple occasions before, stated he was unaware of the incident«s details but considered him »a guy with a dubious reputation.« »Everyone knows that. He«s already yesterday»s news... He had no audience. He«s a loser,» Trump is quoted as saying.

Lemon was taken into custody in connection with a protest against immigration services at the St. Paul«s Church. He is accused of conspiracy to violate the right to religious freedom in a place of worship.

Lemon«s lawyer confirmed the arrest but emphasized his client was acting as a journalist covering the events. »The First Amendment protects journalists who shed light on the truth and hold those in power accountable,« the defender stated.

According to media reports, a representative of the news network criticized the authorities« actions, calling the arrest an unacceptable violation of press freedom. The statement notes that law enforcement twice failed to obtain a warrant to arrest Lemon and other journalists in Minnesota.
