'True fighter' blogger Karina Shtern farewelled in Barnaul

On January 22, Barnaul bid farewell to 23-year-old blogger Karina Shtern, who had long battled a rare form of cancer.
The young woman learned of her diagnosis—alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma—in 2022 and underwent 12 chemotherapy and 32 radiation therapy sessions during her treatment. She shared her fight against the disease in her blog. In one of her videos, she emphasized that despite health problems, she lived a full and happy life.
At the end of 2025, Karina published a video saying that 1.5 years ago, the cancer had returned after remission and she was undergoing treatment. Later, on January 18, a post appeared on her social media that she had passed away.
«Karina was a true fighter. After she was diagnosed, she tried to live life to the fullest. She ran a business and traveled abroad with friends. She did not consider herself sick. We used to say that she went to the hospital to drip some vitamins,» her father Mikhail told NGS22.RU.
Several dozen Barnaul residents came to say goodbye, many bringing flowers.
