In Tomsk, 28 areas are in the zone of possible flooding by flood and meltwater; the city has started actively removing snow from such territories. This was reported by the press service of the Tomsk mayor«s office.

«Winter this year is particularly snowy, so we continue to actively prepare for the flood. On the territory of Tomsk, 28 most dangerous areas have been identified. Of these, 13 are risk zones for possible flooding when the Tom River and small rivers overflow. Another 15 areas are threatened by local flooding due to the accumulation of meltwater,» the statement says.

As clarified to an NGS70.RU journalist by the press service of the mayor«s office, most of the areas at risk of flooding are in lowlands and on the banks. For the most part, they are located in Cheremoshinki and Stepanovka, in Eushta, Nizhny Sklad, Timiryazevsky, Dzerzhinka, Anikino, and so on.

As of February 3, 3,700 tons of snow have already been removed from the dangerous areas. Soon they will begin checking drainage and stormwater systems.
