Tolyatti Mourns Death of Honored Artist Vladimir Korennoi

Vladimir Korennoi, who passed away at 76, is remembered as a cultured and highly intellectual director and actor.
On January 28, at the age of 76, the director and artistic director of the Tolyatti Youth Drama Theater, an Honored Artist of the Samara Region, passed away.
“The team of the Youth Drama Theater regretfully announces: on January 28 at 6:00 a.m., after a brief illness, the director and artistic director of the Tolyatti Municipal Budgetary Institution of Culture «Youth Drama Theater,» Honored Artist of the Samara Region Vladimir Lukich Korennoi, passed away. Information about the place and time of the farewell ceremony will be announced later,” theater staff said.
Those who knew the artist remember him with kind words and mourn the loss.
“It’s incredibly sad! There are no words that can now in any way express this empty feeling in the soul. Condolences to the family, loved ones of Vladimir Lukich and the theater. Stay strong! The loss of such a person is a loss for all of Tolyatti…” wrote Margarita Danishevskaya in a comment.
“The grief is inexpressible… Vladimir Lukich so wanted to work, create, live!!! He was full of plans and hopes. His departure is a huge loss for the city, for everyone who knew Vladimir Lukich. The most intellectual, cultured person, with all the high strings of a creative soul, a wonderful actor and director. It is hard to realize that he has left us… The pain is immense… Pain and grief… Deep, most sincere condolences to the loved ones, family and the theater team…” wrote Irina Denisova.
“May he rest in peace. May the kingdom of heaven be his. My condolences to the family. This is a great loss for the city and the Youth Drama Theater. Vladimir Lukich was a wonderful actor, person, and director,” mourned Galina Smirnova.
Vladimir Lukich Korennoi was born on May 20, 1949, in the town of Zaigrayevo (Republic of Buryatia). In 1972, he graduated from the Sverdlovsk Theater School with a degree in “drama theater artist.” He began his professional career at the Sverdlovsk Theater for Young Audiences, then worked at the Omsk, Kemerovo, and Ivanovo drama theaters.
In 1988, at the invitation of People«s Artist of Russia Gleb Drozdov, he moved to Tolyatti and became a drama artist at the experimental theater “Koleso” (Wheel). Since March 2005, he had been the director and later the artistic director of the Tolyatti Youth Drama Theater. Over half a century of theatrical work, he created more than 80 roles and actively participated in the cultural life of the region. The title of “Honored Artist of the Samara Region” was awarded to him in 2014.
