An emergency regime was introduced in the village of Darasun in the Karymsky District after an accident on the heating main due to an existing threat to the well-being of residents. At the same time, a comfortable temperature has been maintained in homes and institutions during the repairs, the head of the district, Oleg Pavlov, told a Chita.Ru correspondent on January 22.

Residents complained about cooling radiators on January 21, after a break occurred on the main heating main. 17 apartment buildings and a secondary school were left without heat. Initially, the break was patched with clamps, and at night the houses were connected via a backup scheme. Since the clamp did not help, it was decided to lay a new section of pipeline above. Five teams of welders from the company JSC Energiya went to the site to eliminate the accident.

«The threat to the well-being of citizens is evident — for more than one and a half thousand people. The boiler house is operating in normal mode. Heat is supplied via an alternative route, the temperature in the houses is quite comfortable — from 18 to 24 degrees Celsius (64–75°F). All institutions are also connected to heat. But the issue is the heating main,» Pavlov said.

He added that specialists are going from house to house and are point-by-point fixing some problems: draining water, and eliminating freezing in risers.

The head of the district said that under the backup scheme, slightly less heat is still supplied to the houses: «The only issue is that the pipe is not the right diameter — it«s smaller. There was one almost 300 millimeters in diameter, and this one is 159. Accordingly, less heat flows through.»

According to his information, the materials needed for the repair are currently awaited from Chita. As soon as they arrive, the laying of the new section of pipeline will begin.

In the village, volunteers were needed to help go around apartments to bleed air from the radiators. The Ministry of Emergency Situations (MChS) brought heat guns to the village to maintain the temperature in the building entrances. They were also needed to heat half of the dormitory at 2 Postovaya Street.

Ten MChS employees and one piece of equipment also went to the site. A temporary accommodation point in the village of Karymskoye with a capacity of 120 people was put on standby.
