Thousands Seek Aid as Homelessness Rises in Tyumen Oblast

Over the past year, thousands of people in need have turned to various social service organizations in Tyumen Oblast. At these institutions, specialists help people restore documents, apply for disability status, and find temporary shelter.

«In 2025, 2,400 people sought assistance. Temporary shelter was provided to 460 people,» 72.RU was told by the Department of Social Development for Tyumen Oblast.

Last year, assistance was required by 2,200 people, of whom 500 had no home.

Also in 2025, 36 people in need moved into permanent residence at the «Mikhailovsky Special Nursing Home for the Elderly and Disabled.» This is 12 more people than last year.

Homeless people in Tyumen are assisted by «Social Express.» This is a team of people who drive around the city looking for those who need help with housing or food. Sometimes they simply patrol areas where homeless people can be found to offer their free services. But more often, they work on requests. For example, if an elderly woman has been living in a building«s entrance for several days, neighbors can call Social Express employees. They will come, offer help, and if agreed, take her to an assistance center.
