Telecom equipment has been modernized in the Sovetsky District of Nizhny Novgorod. This was necessary due to high network load: the area is home to large residential complexes, several educational institutions, the Balakirev Nizhny Novgorod Music College, a clinic, and numerous commercial enterprises.
Engineers have converted the frequencies of the Megafon base station to the 4G standard and activated an additional high-frequency LTE band. This has improved network capacity and data download speeds. Residents of Bektov Street can already notice the changes. The street was also made famous by Nizhny Novgorod musicians, brothers Vladimir and Sergei Kristovsky. «I was born here, on Bektovka, in its heavenly gardens,» is a line from a song by the band Uma2rman.
After the work, residents of the district can download «heavy» files, make online orders via smartphone, access government services, pay bills, use digital services, and streaming platforms.
«Nizhny Novgorod residents are increasingly using online education, telemedicine, remote work, and digital services. This leads to a growth in data transmission volume, so we are modernizing the network. Last year, over 350 telecom facilities were built and upgraded in the region. We started the year actively, both outside the regional center and in Nizhny Novgorod. Weather conditions are not the easiest now, so we pay special attention to work affecting communication reliability and update the network where growing traffic demands it,» commented Alexei Mikhailov, director of Megafon in Nizhny Novgorod Region.
According to anonymized data from Megafon«s network, since the beginning of 2026 alone, Nizhny Novgorod residents have generated traffic volume sufficient to listen to all tracks from the debut album of the band Uma2rman »In City N« almost 10 million times.
